Pollinator Garden, 2023

The Groton Conservation Commission approved Goldring’s plan to create a large pollinator garden near the entrance to the farm under the direction of landscape architect Toby Wolf. The project restores a wetland area that has become significantly degraded from invasive species. Mr. Wolf was responsible for a design for a native pollinator garden, working with Mr. Corrigan on the restoration plan including identifying the invasive species, treatment plans, and planting vegetation that would increase the viability of the resource area. The garden features native plants arranged in a way that encourages a dynamic and healthy ecology for wildlife.

Silo Solos, 2020, 2021, 2024

In 2020 as a response to the Covid 19 pandemic lockdown, artists decided to create works in isolation in the two silos on the Goldring Piene farm in Groton, MA. The artists to date have included Eric Begleiter, Luc Courchesne, Paule Ducharme, Beth Galston, Elizabeth Goldring, Jessica Goldring-Spira, Seth Riskin, Bill Seaman, Ellen Sebring, David Whiteside, John Whiteside, and a video work by Aldo Tambellini.

The silos themselves became permanent works of art when Otto Piene transformed one into a site for his “Star of David” light ballet, and Paul Matisse transformed the other into a sound silo for his custom-designed sculptural bell and listening space. The Silo Solo artists interacted with the idiosyncratic silo spaces and their artworks.

“Silo Solos” were part of a global broadcast in the 2020 B3 Biennial, Frankfurt, Germany; and shown at the 2021 and 2024 B3 Festival of the Moving Image, Frankfurt am Main.

Archive & Catalogue Raisonné of Otto Piene Works

A comprehensive, annotated listing of all the known works of Otto Piene is being compiled by Julia Schleicher in Berlin. The catalogue raisonné is undertaken by the Otto Piene estate under the direction of Sprüth Magers with initial sponsoring from More Sky. The farm in Groton houses a number of Otto Piene works and his working spaces, studio and fire studio.
